DIY 3D EFFECT WITH HOT GLUE!

This diy comes from  www.makethebestofthings.blogspot.com  .  Another really cool decoracting Idea.  Enjoy! 3 D effect with hot glue I've been kicking this idea around in my head for awhile and I just decided to do it. How can I get a dimensional, 3 D image on a vase, jar, box or even a canvas? I considered cutting shapes out of foam and gluing them on, or gluing on store bought appliques or even jewelry charms. But all of those require a bit more effort or money and I knew there was a simpler way. So here's what I came up with..... The standard thrift store cheap glass vase. The sticker on the bottom says fifty cents, so it was a bargain. Now for my design.... Aha! It's my "leaving the house and my hair is a mess" hat. I got the pretty applique for $1 and it makes it look less like my "bad hair day" hat and more like a stylish statement. That's what I tell myself, anyway. Lol! So, I love the look of the fleur de ...

GROUNDHOG DAY!

Annually celebrated in United States and Canada on February 2nd,  Groundhog Day  is a well known holiday that revolves around the popular weather lore of the coming out of a groundhog from its burrow on this date to look for its shadow. The winter is nearing an end if the groundhog sees its shadow and if it retreats into its hole in its absence the cold season is likely to continue for 6 more weeks. The Origins & Beliefs    Groundhog Day, celebrated across the United States and Canada,  is purely a North  American  tradition. It is based on a belief that on this day (February 2nd) the groundhog, or woodchuck, comes out of hole after winter hibernation to look for its shadow. If the shadow is  seen , it's a sunny day. And the groundhog foretells 'six more weeks of bad weather' and thus a lingering winter. But spring is coming if no shadow is seen because of clouds. The groundhog then behaves accordingly. It goes back...

Tie-Dye Frosting for Cupcakes {a How-To} by  MEL *Ok, sad as it may be, I realized after posting this morning that I already messed up, showing the wrong pictures for the frosted cupcake on the tutorial. Anyway, long story short, I’ve added a few things to the how-to tutorial below as well as uploading a short video on how to frost the cupcakes (both designs). Love ya!* Let it be known that in my house, these last couple months have been referred to as  “The Summer of the Tie-Dye.”  I’m not sure how it happened but we’ve decided to act like we live in the 80′s and it’s tie-dye crazy around here. Here’s official evidence… A few notes about the picture below: 1) My boys coordinate to wear their beloved, homemade tie-dyed shirts the same day (we’re talking five days out of the week) and there are major tears when one of thei...

EPIPHANY, THREE KINGS DAY, LITTLE CHRISTMAS, WHY CHRISTIANS CELEBRATE IT??

Epiphany   (from the Greek word meaning "appearance" or "to appear") is a Christian festival celebrated January 6th, 12 days after Christmas.  Epiphany , often called   Little Christmas , commemorates the appearance of Jesus to the Wisemen of the East.     We often use the word "epiphany" to refer to a revelation or recognition of importance in our lives. Epiphany, in the liturgical sense, is a feast day celebrated mostly in the Catholic and Orthodox faiths. Epiphany is the day Christians remember the visit of the Magi to the stable in Bethlehem. In the eastern or Orthodox rites of the Church, Epiphany is also he day which we remember the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist in the Jordan river. When John baptized Jesus, he also proclaimed Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God. He said, " Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world "     There are some who suggest Epiphany was origin...
