THE CALGARY STAMPEDE FROM CALGARY, CANADA!!

   The Calgary Stampede  is an annual rodeo, exhibition and festival held every July in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The ten-day event, which bills itself as  The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth , attracts over one million visitors per year and features the world's largest rodeo, a parade, midway, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon racing and  First Nations exhibitions . Calgary takes on a party atmosphere during Stampede; residents don western wear and events held across the city include ever popular pancake breakfasts and barbecues.    The Stampede's roots are traced to 1886 when the  Calgary and District Agricultural Society  held its first fair.      San Isidro  is the patron saint of the peasants and laborers and is also the patron saint of Madrid. Tradition has it that on May 15th the people of Madrid are to make a pilgrimage to San Isidro's meadow to celebrate his day and to drink the holy water of his fountain in his hermitage's patio. THE CALAVERAS COUNTY FROG JUMP FROM CALIFORNIA!

The book that started it all      "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County"  is an 1865  short story  by  Mark   Twain , his first great success as a writer, bringing him national attention. The story has also been published as  "Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog"  (its original title) and  "The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County".  In it, the narrator retells a story he heard from a  bartender,  Simon Wheeler, at the  Angels Hotel  in  Angels Camp ,  California , about the  gambler   Jim Smiley .   Flores de Mayo  (English: "Flowers of May") is a  Catholic  festival held in the  Philippines  in the month of May. Lasting for a month, it is held in honor of the  Virgin Mary . The  Santacruzan  refers to the pageant on the last day of  Flores de Mayo , held in honour of  Reyna Elena  and  Constantine  finding the  True Cross  in Jerusalem.     EtymologyThe name is derived from Flores, the Spanish word for "flowers".
